House of Grace distributed food packages and hot meals to 127 families in need from the local Haifa community yesterday in honor of the holy month of Ramadan.
The distribution event brought together student volunteers from local schools alongside House of Grace staff and residents, who worked collaboratively to prepare and distribute aid to the beneficiary families.
“We continue the journey that my father began 43 years ago, serving our community regardless of gender, color, or religious background,” said Jamal Shehade, Director of House of Grace. “These core values guide our daily work and remind us of the importance of giving and supporting everyone.”
What made this distribution special was the unique contribution from current and former residents of the rehabilitation program. Some helped prepare the food packages, while others donated the costs of the complete hot meals. The assistance provided consisted of two parts: full hot meals for families and packages containing essential food supplies.
House of Grace continues to provide food assistance throughout the year, with special campaigns organized during various religious holidays and occasions. These aids come from diverse sources including private donations, campaigns organized by schools, and partnerships with other community organizations.
“We thank everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative,” Shehade added. “Through their support, we can continue to meet our community’s needs and embody our mission in humanitarian work, inspired by the Gospel teaching: ‘I was hungry and you fed me.'”
Founded in 1982, House of Grace currently operates three main projects: prisoner rehabilitation, support for families in need, and at-risk youth development programs. House of Grace remains the only rehabilitation hostel for Arab prisoners in Israel.
