The war has devastated Haifa’s most vulnerable families. Unemployment has soared as businesses close and security concerns restrict movement. Families already struggling to make ends meet now face impossible choices between food, medicine, and rent. House of Grace has responded with expanded services and emergency interventions.
In 2025, we supported 476 families—259 Christian, 211 Muslim, and 6 Jewish—including 52 elderly individuals living alone. Our social worker Safaa Salame provides personalized counseling, rights advocacy, and crisis intervention. We extended social worker hours to meet the surge in demand, ensuring no family in need is turned away.
Food distribution campaigns during religious holidays demonstrated our interfaith mission in action. During Ramadan in March, 127 families received both food packages and complete hot meals—the meals prepared and donated by current and former House of Grace residents. Similar distributions during Pesach and Easter reached hundreds more families across all communities.
An emergency grant of $13,000 from the SVF enabled us to respond rapidly to crisis situations following the Iranian missile strikes, providing immediate aid to families affected by the escalating conflict. Despite some delays caused by security situations, we successfully delivered all promised assistance.
Our women’s empowerment workshops continued throughout the year, helping mothers build resilience and self-confidence during these difficult times. Participants learned to identify their strengths, develop coping strategies, and support one another through the challenges they face daily.
